Dec 9, 2022

The 9th San Francisco International New Concept Film Festival (SFNCFF) ended perfectly at the Herbst Theater in San Francisco on October 30, 2022! Since the launch of registration for this film festival, it has attracted more than a thousand film and television works from various countries around the world to register for the competition. The San Francisco International New Concept Film Festival is a non-profit film festival approved by the U.S. federal government. Its purpose is to jointly promote the new development of future films to develop ideas and actively practice. Since its inception, the film festival has provided an international platform for academic groups, professional film and television companies/institutions, independent production groups, individuals, novices and students who love film production to stand out and develop new concepts and new ideas.

Hollywood Chinese composer Li Tuo won the gold award in the New Concept Film and Television Composition Competition with his original music "Decon Original Movie Score". This original work is Li Tuo's second soundtrack creation for the short film "DECON". The short film "DECON" tells the story of what happened when people were isolated in a shelter after a biological war. Li Tuo used his own real feelings during the COVID-19 epidemic and the trauma caused by the COVID-19 epidemic to the world as inspiration, and used darker and lower orchestral music as the theme to highlight the fear that the plague has brought to people. The rolling melody fully expresses the protagonist's entangled mood when faced with the choice of life and death.

The earliest version of the soundtrack produced by Li Tuo for the film was created according to standard beats and tempos. After listening to the work, Cheng Ming, a senior composer living in the United States and the instructor of this work, suggested that Li Tuo could dislocate the image and music at the turning point of the film. Li Tuo listened to the instructor's suggestions and after constant attempts, he cleverly used the method of changing beats and keeping speed according to the musical characteristics before and after the turning point, so that the sound and picture effects of the film would be better and more perfect.

The composer of the work, Li Tuo, and the instructor Cheng Ming were invited to attend the awards ceremony and accepted official photos and media interviews on the red carpet. Li Tuo said that for him, this award is the industry's recognition of his work and a small milestone in his career. As the instructor, Cheng Ming, a senior composer living in the United States, said that Li Tuo is a very promising young composer. I hope Li Tuo can achieve more outstanding results on the road of music creation.
